Our Plans For the Future
As our children are getting older and are looking to their own lives, we are starting to look at what Paws and Walks might evolve into. We are looking at a number of possibilities and combinations, here are some ideas.
We are looking to be able to offer a high level of care for those that need away from home stays. Our service would try to limit everything we hate about the traditional kennel situation, with the hope of spending as much time out as possible but still giving your pets the peace and quiet times as well.
This would be available for dogs who need company during the day.
We would love to expand our training section and help those that need that little bit extra.
Animal Assisted Therapy can help with a range of problems, these could be emotional, psychological, or just to give comfort. These would be sessions with specially selected pets that come into our care. We would work with therapists to see how we could help. This would also give boarders a chance to get out and about during their visits
We would like to offer a service to get pets to the vet in an emergency, as our local vets charge £90 plus just to come out (correct as of Aug 2016)
Since we would be offering boarding and training it seems logical to offer rehoming, there are lots of rehoming sites with dogs that need that little bit of extra training or understanding and golden oldies, we would love to help those.
Since our 2 dogs have got older and they have developed arthritis, I have discovered an interest in animal physiotherapy and how to improve the quality of life for the older dog. My plan is to head to college to become a physio and offer the various treatments that I would be allowed to do.
We know that going on holiday with your dog(s) throws up lots of small problems, Such as, Who holds your dog when you need the loo or visit a shop that is not dog friendly? What happens if your dog needs a break? How do you get everything in your car? What if you don’t have a car? Would you get lost walking your dog in a new place? Do you want to holiday with like minded dog lovers?
We are researching the need for package holidays for you and your dogs. We would collect you at a local point in a specially adapted coach, where you would travel with your dog by your side and whisk you away to a dog friendly hotel. During your stay there would be walks and visits arranged to dog friendly places, you would also have access to a local dog groomer and have us around to look after your dogs should they or you need a break.
If this is something that would interest you, please let us know.
As we are sure you are aware since April 2016 it is now law that all dogs must be microchipped. This is now the responsibility of the breeder to ensure that all puppies have been chipped before they leave. This includes if you breed from your pets.
We are looking at adding this service to our range, to include dogs, cats and small furries. We are planning for this to be a mobile service as well.
This is another service we are looking at adding, to help you prepare for the birth of your new arrivals. This would also be a mobile service coming to you, assisting in keeping your pet calm during the scan.
Most of these ideas would not start to get off the ground until 2019, when our youngest turns 16 but we do hope to add some of the easier ones has we go.
If you have any comments on the above suggestions, please fill out the form below and we will get back to you. It could be bad or good experiences from boarding kennels that you would like us to incorporate or avoid. It could be a suggestion for a service you require that we can look at providing.
